The Anglepoise company has a long history going back more than 150 years. It has been making classic desk lamps since the 1930s. Made from aluminium with a cast iron base, this modern desk lamp is sturdy yet flexible. Brass details - such as shade cap, bridle, spacers and fittings - enhance the exclusive look of this lamp, bringing out its vintage yet timeless soul. Utilising constant tension spring technology, the stem of this modern light fixture can adjust forward and backward, and the arm can rotate up and down. Supported by the arm is the articulating shade, which can also be adjusted upward and downward, allowing for the direction of light to be changed. This lamp is based on a design by George Carwardine dating back to the Thirties. Originally designed for the industrial market, the Original 1227 lamp was subsequently redesigned to answer the needs of domestic use. Today it is still in production with the same design as then.
