Carlo Martino is an architect and designer born and based in Rome. He thinks the shape of artifacts to be among the most powerful communication languages humanity has. Design has the power to generate and manipulate this language. A deep research – the only way to innovation – is at the origin of all Martino's works. In people, he appreciates courage and consistency. He loves good designs and regular, essential shapes rather than show-offs. In 2004 Martino founded Studiomartino.5 together with Paola Russo and a group of former students of his – a Rome-based studio working in several design fields: product design, communication and strategy. Currently the studio is under the art direction of Catalano and Irnova. Martino's bathroom and outdoor decor items won him several international awards – he was selected in 2003 for the ADI INDEX with the Catalano ZERO+ bathroom fixtures and for the Design Plus award with his projects Help and Verso. He won several IF 2004 Product Awards in Hannover (2004, 2008, 2009). Moreover, he has been awarded the 2011 Design Plus award, the 2005 ADI INDEX, the 2011 Cersaie Exhibit Award.
