With the Nemo armchair, Fabio Novembre uses furniture design to tell intense and fascinating storieswhere the protagonist is often the human figure. This human figure is capable of becoming abstract and universal, able to propose a mythic beauty as occurred in Greek art. Nemo - a face with classic features - is hollowed out to create an inhabitable space. The result is a head-armchair to be lived from the inside. Like a mask, it simultaneously conceals and reveals its inhabitant. A human face appears out of the backrest, while the inner part of the seat shows the lines of face muscles. Having no sex, this classical face embodies a universal model. No feelings, no memories, no expressions - this face stands out of time. An oversized mask lets you hide, cave in, disappear in a secret place. Eyes let you see without being seen. Just look, be charmed, let thoughts wander free while you find your place inside this human face. A project born between the drawing by Ponti of 1950 “Un disegno è un’idea” and the romance by Pirandello of 1926 “Uno, nessuno e centomila” for creating a new identity without sexual and geographical features. A denied identity for a renewed idea of collectivity made of eyes that search each other beyond borders and barriers. Polyethylene fixed monobloc available in different colours - white, black.
