Penguin decoration by Kay Bojesen

A great decoration but also a toy for little ones. An elegant, fun and ironic item: it is the Penguin decoration by Kay Bojesen. This product was designed and manufactured by the designer Kay Bojesen in the fifties. His story began when the pioneer of the Danish design started his career by learning silversmithing techniques in the laboratory of Georg Jensen. Kay Bojesen is a Scandinavian brand that symbolises traditional and high quality design. In addition to the creation of silver items, some of which were exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and for which he won some prizes, such as the Grand Prix at the Triennale in Milan, Bojesen also dedicated himself to woodworking. It is exactly from this that originates his collection of animals, now become a classic of the Scandinavian design. Launched on the market in the fifties, they soon conquered both children and adults. Still today you can find them in people’s houses as decorations or cute toys with which children love playing and having fun. This penguin decoration is just one of the different wooden animals belonging to the same line, such as monkeys, elephants or birds. More than a penguin, it is rather a puffin, conceived and designed in 1954 by the same Kay Bojesen. It is characterized by a very colourful beak, a cute look that conquers children’ and adults’ heart. It is entirely made of high-quality beech wood and the head can be rotated at will. This penguin is carefully painted with non-toxic and safe products, so as to preserve children’ and adults’ health, but also to respect environment. This penguin decoration presents soft and simple lines, which allow it to suit any furnishing and style. Product care information: clean with a dry cloth.
