Tonki
A new eco-friendly full of style designed to furnish your home, hanging the best shots of your life. This is Tonki.
Tonki is the product, We Hang It is the name of the Italian startup that gave life to it.
The Brescia-based brand has now several offices around the world and it was born from the quirky creativity of Ruggero Frigoli and Alessandra Renis.
Ruggero Frigoli used to run with his sister a workshop where they created art prints and, over time, he realized that the high costs of traditional print supports and the shipping costs of these objects made it very difficult the spread of decorative printing ordered through a web channel.

The goal of this business project soon became the creation of a more suitable method of printing in the era of internet media.
The designer duo was looking for an innovative solution to store our memories, but they wanted something different from the usual and boring plastic or glass frames. They wanted to go beyond traditional press and especially they wanted to find a proper support and printing technique that is cool, eco-sustainable and low-cost.

The most original and personal way to decorate a room, is to hang in it pictures of the most beautiful and significant moments of our lives, so that the space itself is able to represent our personality, our passions and the most important moments of our life.
You just have to browse a magazine or an interior design website to find inspiration to decorate your home with a certain style, but Tonki is a brand that offers something more.

During a stay in London, on the heels of inspiration linked to green economy, Ruggero and Alessandra had the inspiration they were waiting for. And they found it in the flexibility of a poor material, as it is raw cardboard.
Ruggero and Alessandra (Ah! Did we mention they are engaged?) have handled, bent, broken, cut and reassembled until the real stroke of genius came: print photos directly on a pre-cut cardboard.

The decision to opt for a frame with a square shape comes from the success achieved by the (square) pics typical of visual social networks, such as Instagram.
The Tonki frame looks like a simple sheet of pre-cut cardboard in havana colour, on which some original decorations are printed. The print size is 25cm in height 25cm length, and a depth of 4.5 cm; a pattern set on the so-called "Shadowbox", the typical frame-shaped glass cases where we usually keep the most valuable objects.

On the line of the Tonki's recycling philosophy, even the inks used for printing are 100% natural and non-polluting.
A single square piece of cardboard, on which you will ecologically print your most important pictures to hang them whereever you want.
A new eco-friendly product entirely made in Italy, easy to assemble and extremely versatile in its uses.

A surprising idea even in its simplicity, which began in a small factory in Brescia but soon achieved an international success.
A brand that has decided not to ignore the main theme of this era of transformations: ecology and sustainability are the key points on which the Tonki project has moved all its steps. A product created also to wake customers' awareness as regards recycling.
The Italian startup has found the fortune of its (immediate) success, emphasizing its greatest strength: the craftsmanship of all products, typical of our beautiful country.

Although the founders of Tonki wish to bring their brand abroad, they remain firm on a key point of their production: certain steps of the working process must be carried out by hand. This provides Tonki with a distinctive feature that is absolutely unique.
An exciting and promising idea, born from a new-generation designer mindset, that firmly believes that if we donìt give up we can still work to create something new.

Ruggero and Alessandra have started their successful journey towards a conceptual revolution of matter, focusing on the theme that perhaps is more important for our planet: that of the production of designer products that are functional but above all eco-friendly and recyclable.
Tonki is the home of artistic design, and your walls can no longer do without it.
