Emmanuel Babled was born in France in 1967. He studied Industrial Design at the European Institute of Design in Milan, graduating in 1989 and founding his personal studio in 1992. After many years in Milan, in 2010 Studio Emmanuel Babled moved to Amsterdam. Every since the beginning he's been creating, both for himself and for prestigious manufacturers like Venini, Baccarat, Rosenthal and Covo, a wide range of unique and limited edition pieces which have made their way to public and private collections around the world. At the same time, he develops industrial items as well as furniture and lighting. His clients include, among others, Baccarat, Rosenthal, Venini, Bulgari, Ittala, Dupont de Nemours, Fontana Arte, Oluce, I & I, Laurent Perrier, Waterford Crystal, Felice Rossi, Henge, Covo, Giannini, Ideas Co Ltd, Marzoretti Ronchetti, Viceversa and Vistosi. Emmanuel Babled's design approach is based on the idea that a good design comes from first-hand contact and physical presence in the production area. Watching materials and techniques carefully in a unique environment means you are able to gain a feeling for the places and social conditions, fundamental to his working method. The territorial expertise and intimacy with his products are what really make him stand out from the rest. Babled worked with glass in Murano for many years, making for a long and fruitful collaboration. With Carrara marble and carpets from northern India and Nepal, even today he's always exploring different types of territorial features. Far from merely celebrating tradition, he's also intrigued by challenging classic methods in order to achieve innovative and significant results. His work often combines a historical knowledge of the trade combined with a computerized process and original composition.
