Davide Tonizzo
Davide Tonizzo was born in Toronto, Canada in 1962 with a passion for cars. After graduating in mechanical engineering he left for Italy to follow his dream of designing bodywork and car interiors. In 1989 he began his career as a designer at I.DE.A Insitute where he completed numerous projects for Italian car manufacturers. During his stay in Turin he also makes visits to Milan where he discovers the world of furniture design and a new passion for furniture design starts. Utilizing the metrics of his Italian education he founded his design studio in 1992 in his native city. With an engineering base coupled with a strong sensitivity for human and ecological forms and needs, he was able to transfer his two great passions for cars and furniture to a diversified clientele. He designed cars, vans, buses, contract and domestic furniture, bathrooms, bags, crockery, packaging, watches and ecological vehicles. Now he has a studio in Toronto but he works in Italy, USA and other European countries. In 2004, he gave a lecture at the Triennale entitled "The Design of the New North: Discovering Canada". He recently started producing short films for his clients to promote their products on the internet.
