Located in San Francisco, August is a furniture and product designer. As an accomplished craftsmen and machinist he employs a hands-on approach to the design and engineering of objects, always in pursuit of the space between art and function. Equally at home with traditional hand tools, 3D modeling software, or advanced CNC machinery, August explores the stillpoint between the deep soul of the hand-made with the precision of quality mass-production. "As long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by the unfolding harmonies of geometric forms as they are applied to sculpture and design. As the idea of a circle takes on mass in the form of a sphere, a cylinder, or a tube, a physical form is realized." August's designs revel in that translation from ideation to materialization. August studied art and design at Cooper School of Art, and Brooks Institute of Photography and Fine Art.
