Born in 1959 in Tunisi, English by adoption, Tom Dixon is a self taught designer. During his high school years he founded the punk band Funkapolitan. He got close to design by repairing the pieces of his motorbike, becoming the famous designer of Giulio Cappellini's S-Chair. In 2004 he obtained a honorary degree at the Birmingham City University, he was awarded with the English O.B.E. knight rank for his commitment to design and in 2011 Wallpaper* nominated him designer of the year. He lives and works in London.
