The original talent of Matteo Thun, who decided to give space to the precious Made in Italy craftmanship, reinterpreted in a modern way the classic wooden chair belonging to the Ligurian tradition, one of the most popular traditional and imitated chair of all time. An example of excellence of the highest Italian manufacturing, Chiavarina is handcrafted in the laboratory of the Ligurian Levaggi family, a company with skilled craftsmen who, for over half a century, realized with passion and extreme care chairs belonging to the authentic Chiavari artisan tradition. It only weighs 2.3 kg and is elegant, robust and light at the same time because, as well as the original version, the new Chiavarina is made of beech wood, which has the ideal characteristics for a product such as a seat: it is solid, robust, resistant to stress, bending and twisting, but also durable, compact, lightweight and versatile, and its natural colour is an elegant BIONDO RAME with precious grain that are enhanced if exposed to light. The Chiavarina chair by the Matteo Thun Atelier is identical to the original one, with only two new things, that is the reinterpretation of the proportions and the replacement of traditional seat in weaved straw with a polyester rope that throws it into the future, making it absolutely contemporary and even reducing the cost, making it a much more affordable from an economic point of view. The hands' and the designer's genius are visible in the addition of the colour, that was missing in the original chair, where the light blond beech wood was similar to that of the weaved straw, with a monochrome effect. In the modern version, made by the Matteo Thun Atelier, the seat is available in a wide range of ultra-modern colours, from blue to red through green and orange, or eye-catching two-coloured combinations, with unusual but effective aesthetic impact, which highlight the fascinating ancient-modern contrast.
