In fact, Il Moro had a wife and children in the East to return to, the girl, taken by pain and revenge, decided to cut off the Moor's head and display it on his balcony as a pot where to plant a basil sprout. Passers-by, seeing how luxuriant the plant grew, chose to commission terracotta vases with the same features.
