Chalet Grumer: a romantic weekend in the Dolomites

In Alto Adige, not that far from Bolzano, Chalet Grumer is a wonderful, romantic mountain lodge run by young Alexandra and Philip.

The hotel has 5 spacious suites decorated in a typically Alpine style. The wooden beams, the parquet flooring, the light-reflecting white walls and the exquisite leather upholstered furniture help to create a rustic yet elegant ambience.

On the ground floor, the communal areas include a living room with a library and the inevitable Stube, the typical Tyrolean sitting-room.

Put your feet up, read a book, enjoy the view from the large window and order a glass of red wine. When you’ve had enough of the sofa, you can make your way to the Grumer's Grooming Spa and Relax area: covered pool, saunas and outdoor hot tubs.

Chalet Hafling: a weekend in typical Tyrolean-style

If you’ve been planning a weekend away with your friends for some time, the Chalet Hafling, in Avalengo, in Alto Adige could be ideal.

Its spacious rooms are in typical Tyrolean style: 5 bedrooms, a large kitchen and a traditional picture-perfect Stube that dates from the XVII century and is clad in pine, larch and Norway spruce. No Stube would be complete without the iconic Bauernofen stove.

Entirely built in stone, the cellar is another feature especially set up so you can enjoy a nice glass of wine before dinner.

And, because you deserve to be spoilt on holiday, the Grubers – the owners – will bring you freshly baked bread every morning and upon special request, will come and cook your lunch and dinner too – Tyrolean specialities of course.

Hotel Hubertus: aquatic relax for skiers

A weekend at the Hubertus hotel, located near the Plan De Corones ski resort, in Alto Adige, may be ideal for skiers as well as for people who enjoy luxury and relaxation.

The structure of the hotel, designed to be an integral part of the landscape, will dazzle you right away. And if this wasn’t enough to take your breath away, there’s a heated sky-pool suspended 25 metres above ground. The front and a section of the bottom of the pool are in glass, so you feel as if you were floating between sky and ground, as light as air.

There’s a sensory pool inside the hotel however, which reproduces the same feelings and sounds as those you experience when you’re in the Dolomites.

Chalets built out of snow: a night living like an Eschimo

Would you like to spend an unforgettable night? The address that you need is in Livigno, at 1816 metres above sea level to be precise: here, you’ll find, side by side, two chalets built out of snow.

Yes, that’s right: these two unique lodges with a 5 metre diameter, are built using pressed snow. But, they are nothing like a traditional igloo: these little huts reproduce the vernacular architecture of the Livigno valley. Internally, they are decorated with snow sculptures inspired by Art in Ice, the contemporary art exhibition that has been taking place in Livigno over the past 18 years.

Apart from the overnight stay, the full package includes welcome drinks, dinner, breakfast and Spa treatment.

It’s open from December to March, be sure to check it out!
