If you are in Italy during the first weeks of the year, there are four exhibitions that you can not really miss.
Let’s start with an exceptional meeting, the one between Picasso and Greek mythology. Picasso Metamorphosis, at Palazzo Reale through February 17th, shows over two hundred works by the famous Spanish painter inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses.
And, while you’re there, you really can not miss the extensive retrospective dedicated to Carlo Carrà, with 130 works illustrating his evolution in the wake of Futurism. But only until February 3rd!
If you love Caravaggio’s dark atmosphere, and you are lucky enough to be in Milan, you have time until Sunday January 27th to go and see the immersive exhibition that involves all senses, with headphones and video mapping. A veritable emotional journey.
If you are into photography instead, there’s something for you, too. Through February 24th, the Highline Galleria Vittorio Emanuele hosts a black and white photographic exhibition that traces one hundred years of Milan’s history, including its social, urban and architectural evolution.

From May, 2019, Milan honors Leonardo da Vinci 500 years after his death, reopening to visitors Leonardo’s Sala delle Asse at Castello Sforzesco and celebrating the painter with an exhibition of original drawings by Leonardo and other Renaissance artists.
From February 22nd Palazzo Reale hosts an exhibition dedicated to Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, among the most important representatives of French neoclassicism. In spring, you will be able to see the magnificent candlelit baroque paintings by Georges de La Tour, while in September 2019 you can book a ticket to get access to the metaphysical dreamy paintings by Giorgio de Chirico.
