Nika Zupanc brilliantly graduated at the School of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 2000, and since then she has enjoyed a great reputation. During the last years, Nika Zupanc designed for herself a wide range of objects based on Olympic and sport themes: one of her collections has been recently awarded on the occasion of the ICFF in New York. This year it has been launched her capsule collection with 20 objects realized for the Francfranc Japanese brand. Meanwhile, Nika continued to enrich her portfolio raising her popularity. A particularly appreciated item is the Lolita table lamp, made by the Danish design company Moooi, and in the last years Nika has turn into one of the most noteworthy personalities at the Milan Design Week: not only for the products made as independent designer, but also for her installations, among which “Love Me More”, curated by Rossana Orlandi. Furthermore, she created a room for Esprit Dior and made the suggestive “As Apertivo” bar of Ljubljana, her native town. Nika’s objects, in addition to their absolute refinement, also present an emotional factor, reason why her style has been defined “punk elegance”. There is something theatrical and noir in her work, and sometimes her objects let their users feel like actors. According to Nika any explanation is superfluous. Her language comes from the bottom of her heart and she uses it to communicate those things that can not be told.
