Despite being born in the 1950s, the leather Gilda armchair by Zanotta, a leading Italian furniture brand, has a contemporary design. This item was produced once more in 2010 with the aim to pay tribute to its designer, the famous and versatile Turin architect Carlo Mollino. Zanotta is a company that has been on the market since 1954, when its founder, Aurelio Zanotta, began working on armchairs and couches that had a great impact on the public. In fact, all the brand’s range of items, which now includes tables, chairs and furnishing accessories, mix style and beauty with functionality, comfort and durability. All this is achieved with constant technological research when it comes to production as well as innovation and materials of the highest quality. Zanotta has made the history of Italian design, and is now recognized worldwide as one of the oldest Made in Italy brands. The leather Gilda armchair was born in 1954, and it immediately appeared a novelty due to its shapes and materials. At first glance, the soft and comfortable seat provides a contrast with the armrests, which are almost aerodynamic, and this impression continues even when it comes to colours. Besides being beautiful to see, Gilda is also very comfortable thanks to the possibility of reclining the backrest in four positions thanks to regulators in brass. The same material and colour is used for the screws and bolts so as to create an additional contrast on oak-coloured ash wood. The soft padding of the seat and backrest is made of self-extinguishing polyurethane foam and polyester fibre thermally bonded to steel springs. The outside leather lining is very soft as well as removable. The Gilda armchair is a classic of the past brought back to our present.
