Estudio Campana
Since 1983, Fernando (1961) and Humberto (1953) Campana, brothers, have solidly built their career obtaining national and international awards. Their work combines the idea of transformation and reinvention. In addition to giving preciousness to poor materials, to daily objects, they add aesthetic features typical from Brazil -the colours, the combinations, the creative chaos, the triumph of simple solutions.
Based in São Paulo, Estudio Campana is constantly committed to study new production solutions for furniture. It creates dialogues in which the information exchange is also a source of inspiration, the work in close contact with communities, factories and industries allows them to maintain that freshness that characterizes all Estudio Campanàs collections. In 1998 they exhibited at MoMa in New York for the "Progetto 66", organized by Paola Antonelli, the first international exhibition together with Ingo Maurer. In the same year they signed their first partnership with Edra, in Italy. Ever since, every year they have been launching new products and concepts in cooperation with big companies such as Edra, Alessi, Fontana Arte and Grendene. In 2002, Estudio Campana starts to work on its first collection of editions and unique hand made pieces made in the studio in São Paulo. These special editions are exhibited in international galleries like Firma Casa, in São Paulo, Albion Gallery in London and Moss, in New York.
Today their creations are part of permanent collections in well-known cultural institutions like MoMa in New York, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, and the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo. In 2008 they were awarded with the sought after Designer of the Year award at Design Miami.
