The Maggiolina chaise longue – a 1947 success by Zanotta. The Maggiolina chaise longue has all the right to be included in the list of the most iconic creations by Zanotta, an Italian brand very admired even outside the national borders. This chaise longue was designed in 1947 and boasts a prestigious signature such as that of designer Marco Zanuso, a professional who has designed and realized other important pieces for this company. The Maggiolina chaise longue deserves to be considered a piece of the history of Zanotta, and one that has also received important awards such as the Medaglia d’Oro VII Triennale di Milano in 1948. This model is perfectly true to the original version. Featuring a classic and sober style – very suitable for a modern setting – this chaise longue is considered so special not only for its high-quality design but also for the great materials with which it is made. The frame is made of polished 18/8 stainless steel, unpainted just like the very first versions of this timeless chaise longue, the finishing of the structure is in pigmented leather 90, the lining is made of extra fine leather, and the padding is made of 100% goose down. Maggiolina is therefore a mix of the best materials used in the creation of chaise longue, sofas, armchairs and similar furniture, which means that this refined piece of furniture is destined to a long lifespan. And even when it comes to comfort Maggiolina proves to be a state-of-the-art piece as the high-quality of its materials coupled with the ergonomics of the piece ensure incredible comfort and well-being! There are many reasons, therefore, to buy Maggiolina, not least because it means bringing home an extraordinary piece of furniture, a chaise longue that is part of history and a symbol of quality.

Marco Zanuso
Born in Milan in 1916 and graduated as an architect in 1939, he has been active since 1945 in design, architecture and urban planning. From 1947 to 1949 he is editor-in-chief of Domus magazine and in the 1950s he is editor of the magazine Casabella. In 1947 he began designing metal furniture, reinterpreting the tradition of Rationalism. In 1954 he participated in the foundation of ADI and the creation of the Compasso d'Oro award, giving a fundamental contribution to the Triennale of Milan and the planning of the city itself. At the same time, it produces a production of amazing qualitative and quantitative items, with an increasing international affiliation. He received countless awards, from many Golden Compass prizes, to his various pieces in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Since 1979 he has been a holder of the Chair of Design for the Industry at the Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano. Marco Zanuso has collaborated with Zanotta since 1969.
