At the beginning, man had only the light of the stars available: the sun and its reflection on the moon. For millennia, humanity has accepted its inability to see in the dark and has adapted accordingly to the natural rhythm of the celestial spheres, sunrise and sunset. But this changed about 2 million years ago. The appearance of controlled use of fire marked the beginning of the search for how to transform night into day at will. But creating the light from the flames was very inefficient (it heated more than illuminating) and uncomfortable (it produced smoke). Then about 70 thousand years ago, light began to be produced from burning fuel: animal fat first, oil or wax, or gas and kerosene more recently not only allowed a more efficient use of energy, but also introduced the need for a more specific design of the light source. The appearance of electricity at the beginning of the last century has given rise to a technological development that, regardless of the scientific principle used to produce light (incandescence, fluorescence or metal halides), has made almost every other source of energy disappear. The next step in light production came with the development of light emitting diodes (LEDs). For the first time, light has moved from the electric realm to the electronics field. But for some reason such a revolutionary passage has not permeated society; people look for sources and lamps in the household appliances section, not in the electronics section. This project for Artemide combines the celestial spheres with electronics. On the one hand, the objective is that the light varies its intensity and direction as in the phases rather than moving pieces of a mechanism. On the other hand, the aim is to recognize the fact that the future of light is electronic, not electric, creating multiple ways of interacting, such as a touch screen. Thus, from these premises a dark, low-voltage, mobile sphere takes shape, activated intuitively by touch. Hence the name Huara, the word Aymarà for star. Aymarà is the native population of the Atacama desert, the driest and darkest in the world. In other words, the place where you can see the most stars on the planet.
