ALESSI

The story of Alessi, the Italian brand that made the 9093 kettle, Aldo Rossi's Coffee Maker, the Dome Coffee Maker La Cupola, the controversial Juicy Salif Juicy Juicy Salif Squeezer by Philippe Starck, the Pots&Pans pots by Jasper Morrison, begins as the adventure of a family business that grows over time until it becomes one of the most important factories in the world.

Today it is easy to find Alessi's objects in every Italian house, displayed as collectible items or on the dining table or on the kitchen worktop, ready to use. Not to mention that Alessi's wedding favors are always an excellent wedding gift or special occasions.

From Giovanni Alessi's Workshop to Philippe Starck's collaborations

Alessi was founded in 1921 in Omegna, Piedmont, where the workshop was founded for the processing of brass and alpacca slab with foundry. Giovanni Alessi took Austrian and English production as a model, winning the public thanks to the extremely careful finishes, while his son Carlo Alessi designed most of the objects produced until 1945.

During the 1950s Carlo became general manager of Alessi and the Officina moved on to industrial production, specializing in objects for professional use, destined for bars, hotels and restaurants. Ettore Alessi, director of the Technical Office, is the first to collaborate with external designers.

But it is with Alberto Alessi that the company and the world of design begin to collaborate happily: Ettore Sottsass, Achille Castiglioni, Aldo Rossi and Philippe Starck are just some of the great masters of design who work with Alessi.

Since the mid-nineties, Alessi's philosophy has been increasingly focused on experimentation. The objects are made with innovative materials and are distinguished from each other by an aesthetic and conceptual language that is always different. the first real industrial products.

Kettle 9093 Alessi by Michael Graves

This kettle, designed by architect Michael Graves, is perhaps one of the most famous products in the Alessi catalogue. The simple design of the object only enhances Graves' ingenious idea: when the water bubbles, the bird starts singing.

Produced in 1985, the Bollitore 9093 has immediately won over the public thanks to its bird-shaped whistle, a synthesis of the influence that Art Deco, Pop Art and comics have had on Michael Graves' career. All this without losing the familiarity of a timeless object

The kettle is made of steel, while the handle and bird are PA and available in three colours. The kettle has a magnetic steel bottom that makes it perfect for induction cooking.

Juicy Salif Alessi Squeezer by Philippe Starck

It is perhaps the iconic object par excellence, not only in Philippe Starck's production but also in the Alessi catalogue. Starck's Juice Squeezer looks more like an exhibition object than a use, thanks to its refined and at the same time essential aesthetics.

Don't be fooled by its graceful appearance: this juicer is also extremely functional. It is a manual juicer, very easy to use: just place the glass between the legs of the juicer to collect the juice. It is made of die-cast aluminium, a material that makes it light and practical, even in maintenance.

Juicy Salif was first produced in 1990 and has already celebrated twenty-five years of success. His story is very unusual: Alberto Alessi had commissioned a tray from Philippe Starck, but he had no response from the designer for months. Then, unexpectedly, an envelope containing the paper placemat of an Italian restaurant arrived in Alessi: above, signed by Philippe Starck, there was the sketch for a juicer. The rest is history - design. This juicer from Alessi is in fact present in the permanent collections of many museums around the world, from MoMA in New York to Centre Pompidou in Paris, as well as winning the Compasso d' Oro.

Alessi Conica Alica Coffee Maker by Aldo Rossi

La Caffettiera La Conica combines two Italian delights: good coffee and good design. This is the first design of a coffee maker designed by the architect Aldo Rossi, but all the characteristics of his style are already expressed: it is in fact a real miniature architecture, where the cone represents the cover of the body of the coffee maker. A cylinder and cone: the design is simple, but for this very exceptional reason.

Preparing coffee is just as pleasant as drinking a cup: The Conica is perfect for every coffee break, alone or in company. It is a stainless steel coffee maker, with a copper base with warm reflections.

The project of this coffee maker is part of the Tea&Coffee Piazza initiative conceived by Alessandro Mendini. The goal was to involve many pure architects and put them to the test in the field of design and everyday life, designing a tea and coffee service.

The name of the coffee maker has been specially designed by Aldo Rossi to arouse questions and reflections in those who use it. It could be a reference to its particular form, or to the ancient Sparta, which belonged to the region of Lakonia, and to the adjective Spartan or laconic, passed to mean simplicity of customs, or again, according to Aldo Rossi, to the laconic hypocaust, the Roman heating system.

Aldo Rossi's Alessi Conical Kettle

Just like the Caffettiera, Il Conico kettle is one of Alessi's most famous pieces and bears the signature of the architect Aldo Rossi.

This time, the simplification of shapes reaches a new level: the coffee machine cylinder disappears and the whole object is reduced to a single large cone. This is not just an aesthetic choice: the conical shape of the kettle optimizes boiling times. The Conico is made of 18/10 stainless steel.

Moka Alessi Coffee shop by Alessandro Mendini

The Caffettiera Moka Alessi is a clear and heartfelt tribute to Alfonso Bialetti, from his nephew Alberto Alessi. This coffee maker is also part of the Tea&Coffee Piazza project.

Alfonso Bialetti designed and produced the first mocha in 1933, revolutionizing the way coffee is made and drunk and becoming part of Italian history, but also part of the small rites of everyday life. This re-elaboration is certainly a homage made in light of the new knowledge and technologies applied to design, without forgetting the price point, really competitive and popular for a brand like Alessi.

The Moka Coffee Moka is made of cast aluminium, while the handle and knob are made of thermoplastic resin, in the characteristic black color.

Alessi roundabout tray by Stefano Giovannoni and Guido Venturini

The Alessi Round Tray is the perfect gift for Christmas and the right thought to celebrate every special occasion. The designer King-Kong duo, formed by Stefano Giovannoni and Guido Venturini, created the object with the characteristic motif of the men, this time perforated and arranged along the edge as if they were performing a roundabout.

The essential form is the key to the success of the Girotondo Tray, which makes it suitable for any home environment and furnishing style. Not only that, thanks to the playful motif of stylized children it is perfect for all ages.

The tray is made of steel and is available in three colour variants, while the Mini Girotondo version, with its raised edge, is only available in steel.

Alessi Colombina cutlery from Fuksas

Cutlery can also be designed, and the Alessi collections prove this very well. The Colombina cutlery service designed by Fuksas studio is ergonomic without losing in aesthetics.

It is a refined product, perfect for guests' tables and special occasions. Like many products in the Alessi catalogue, this cutlery service is characterised by a contemporary look. The fork has only three teeth or tines, the knife is curved while the spoons have very basic shapes.

Also in this case, the Fuksas studio is composed of architects who, in collaboration with Alessi, have experimented in the field of home design and more specifically that of table accessories. Fuksas studio is led by Doriana Mandrelli and Massimiliano Fuksas.

Oval cutlery service Alessi 6 people

The Alessi Oval Cutlery Service for 6 people is perfect to accompany every moment at the table. Whether it's for a quick lunch with a friend or a family dinner, you'll not miss this cutlery service consisting of a spoon, fork, knife and teaspoon.

The service was designed by French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, who decided to cutlery an essential but always elegant look, thanks to the material chosen, the polished stainless steel 18/10, and the timeless shape that gives the name to the service.

Cutlery service New Milan Alessi di Ettore Sottsass

One of the most popular collaborations between Alessi and the world of design: with Ettore Sottsass, one of the greatest Italian architects and designers of the twentieth century. The New Milan Cutlery Service is the second service put into production by Alessi, who turned to Sottsass to take care of the project. In 1989, the New Milan Service won the Compasso d' oro ADI.

It is a cutlery service for 6 people, consisting of a spoon, a fork, a knife and a teaspoon. Ettore Sottsass wanted soft and rounded shapes to make the use of these cutlery pleasant, in line with her design thinking that promotes contact with reality.

Alessi's Nuovo Milano cutlery service is also made of polished 18/10 stainless steel, to guarantee longevity and ease of maintenance.

Dressed Alessi Collection

The Alessi Dressed Collection is one of the most popular collections in the company's entire catalogue. Dressed includes spoon, fork, fish fork, fish knife, fish knife, fish knife, dessert spoon, sweet fork, fruit fork, fruit fork, fruit knife, tea spoon, coffee spoon, butter knife, ladle, spoon and fork, salad cutlery, cake shovel, cutlery service 5

The Dressed Collection is designed by designer Marcel Wanders, who has made the decoration the central but discreet element, without ever neglecting the functionality of the kitchenware. The details are refined and elegant, creating a harmonious whole that will make the table ready to welcome an elegant dinner.

Circus Alessi Collection

The Circus Collection by Alessi was designed by designer Marcel Wanders, who wanted to restore the special atmosphere of the circus in this collection of table and home objects.

The shapes are extremely simple: the focus is on colours (white, red, yellow, black, steel and white) and the decoration in segments and geometric motifs, which recall and evoke the circus environment. For this reason too, the Circus collection is perfectly suitable as a gift.

Circus includes bottle holder, underplate, round tray, ice bucket, cooler, thermo-insulating bottle holder, salad bowl, airtight jar, cup, mug, bowl, bowl, bowl, bowl, bowl box.

Alessi Pots&Pans pots and pans

Alessi's Pots&Pans pots were created by designer Jasper Morrison, who has adopted a linear and functional style for the entire pot battery. Each element is made of stainless steel 18/10 and has a magnetic base for induction firing. The details make the difference when using this battery, such as the scale scale designed in the interior or the flared edge to pour liquids more easily.

Pots&Pans consists of a milk stew, a two handle casserole, a set of 7 stainless steel pots and pans composed of a two handle casserole, a low pot with two handles, a casserole with long handle, a pot with 20cm diameter, three lids.

The Pots&Pans lids have a very special design: the knob allows the lid to be raised using the ladle, thus avoiding direct contact with the metal and therefore unpleasant burns while cooking.

Stainless steel prevents food from sticking inside the pot, making it extremely easy to maintain and clean. The pots and pans are dishwasher safe.
