When automotive engineer, George Carwardine chanced upon a formula for a new kind of spring, he had created the blueprint for a groundbreaking articulated task lamp that could combine ultimate flexibility with perfect stability. Two years later the Original 1227™ was born. Combining the traditional Anglepoise® shape shade with attractive braided, coloured cable the Original 1227™ pendant can be used singly, matched with others, or in a series of multi-coloured hanging shades, to create a striking visual feature. Entirely inspired by industrial lamps, the Original 1227™ pendant by Anglepoise® comes in three colours - blue, grey and slate - with brass details. This suspension lamp is a classic of British design. Its timeless style will bring you back to another time while being extremely contemporary. In fact, exactly the same design has been in continuous production ever since 1935! The steel lamp shade is painted with a beautiful glossy finish that brings out the industrial soul of this unique item. Other details - such as the lamp holder - are made of naturally finished brass, a luxurious details that adds an exclusive touch to any corner of your home. Even the power cord tells stories of old times and things made with love - in fact, it is covered with premium braided fabric. The size of this lamp is quite compact, while its cord is 250 metre long.
